Kym started his apprenticeship at 16 in 1987 as a boat builder, at The Marina Goolwa, in South Australia. We made several types of pleasure boats, power and sail, as well as boat repairs.

Kym’s award-winning abilities are evident in his workmanship, and on completion of his apprenticeship was promoted to manager of the boat repair business.

Kym relocated to South East Queensland, after nine years working at The Marina Goolwa, to work for himself, and explore other parts of Australia.

Kym started Shipwright Mobile in 1996 and worked out of his van, and enclosed trailer, built by himself doing all types of boat repairs in marinas.

Kym is now based at Redland City Marina with is own shed that can accommodate two 50 foot vessels.
